But Clark was much more than that. Famous among his colleagues for his charm and legendary smile, his untimely death at the age of just 42, while awaiting a heart transplant, was a devastating loss for American cuisine.

In the second half of this cookbook, Charlie Trotter and 50 colleagues salute Patrick in the best way they know how—with recipes and memories of good times spent eating, cooking, and talking about food. The all-star lineup of contributing chefs includes Daniel Boulud, Traci des Jardins, Todd English, Emeril Lagasse, Alice Waters, and Mark Miller.

Clark is survived by his wife, Lynette, and their five young children. All the royalties from the sale of this book go to benefit the Patrick Clark Family Trust, a nonprofit fund created to assist in the education and support of Clark's Children.
